As I wrote in my blog months ago. I fear that tropical fruits will become considerably more expensive due to the lack of water in Spain and poor harvests in other areas.

Today I’m reading in DER SPIEGEL+

“The industry is suffering from poor harvests in numerous regions and declining stocks of orange juice concentrate in Brazil, the most important supplier country,” said VdF Managing Director Klaus Heitlinger.

On the commodity futures exchange in the USA , orange juice concentrate is currently several times more expensive than usual. “Goods are in short supply and raw material costs are rising. This means that consumers must also be prepared for the fact that orange juice will become more expensive,” said the industry expert.

The last water for export strawberries

Something similar can currently be observed in Spain, where water is also at stake. And there, too, politicians are reacting negligently to the consequences of climate change.

The Iberian Peninsula is drier than it has been for at least 1200 years.

An enormous amount of vegetables and fruit is grown in southern Spain, and now farmers are running out of water.
