(Bavaria) After some federal states already promote the operation of photovoltaic systems on domestic balconies, the CSU now also wants to advocate private electricity generation. According to the will of Prime Minister Markus Söder, the Free State of Bavaria should support nuclear balcony power plants as soon as possible.
“A solar panel on the balcony only provides energy as long as the sun is shining,” Söder explained to the Postillon when asked. “A mini-nuclear power plant, on the other hand, never stands still, but supplies electricity 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. That’s exactly the kind of bridging technology we need right now.”
As early as next year, pressurized water reactor miniatures of Isar 2 will be available from a price of around 50,000 euros thanks to state subsidies. “Ideally, every Bavarian household will soon have a mini-nuclear power plant on their balcony and steaming away happily,” says Söder. “Then we don’t have to suddenly start putting up ugly wind turbines.”
The resulting nuclear waste is to be disposed of by the municipalities by providing a red nuclear waste bin made of lead for every household.
