(Spain) I love being alone and I don’t feel lonely at all. Regular social interactions, small talks, business contacts several times a week. By the way, I don’t travel alone… See below

WhatsApp and phone to communicate with people in the old homeland.

PRIVATE more than 5 people around me is already a bit of a challenge.

In the evening, occasionally a game night with new acquaintances or sometimes an attractive man in the playroom. That’s enough for me.

I’ve been here for about a week now. Twice or three times a day, an elderly gentleman comes with his 45 km/h “car” and stays for about an hour and waits….

Just now I went with the dogs again and walked right past him. I wanted to check if there might be a risk of theft.

He got out of the car and had a friendly sparkle in his eyes. He talked to the dogs, petted them and tried to make small talk with me.

He was so happy that there was a human being. Unfortunately he didn’t speak English and I had my smartphone in the mobile phone for the purpose of a translator.

Spain also has a problem with loneliness. A 2015 survey found that about 70 percent of those who live alone are lonely. This is reported by the Spanish-German newspaper “Wochenblatt”. In Galicia, one of the regions where the population is the oldest, the “Alberta Family” project aims to combat loneliness.
