Death washed up on the beach.

Yesterday, like the day before yesterday, I was once again at the men’s beach in Vélez-Málaga.

As I was walking to my place, I saw a piece of clothing on the beach on the way there.

In 2023 (as of February 2024), it is estimated that over 3,000 people died while fleeing across the Mediterranean.

The death toll was particularly high in 2016, when more than 5,000 people died on their way to Europe by sea.
