In a separate blog, I will create a list of destinations, link collections, and a bucket list.

And thus also define my short, medium and long-term goals.

    It’s a crazy time!

How and in what form I achieve it, or not… Or what changes there will be. We’ll see.

    Life is exciting.

El Niño is on the horizon – the coming years are likely to be hot

A change in the weather is imminent: the cooling La Niña cycle is coming to an end, and its hotter brother is taking over. Experts are therefore expecting new temperature records.

    Hot Christ Child

What are La Niña and El Niño? It is correctly called “El Niño Southern Oscillation” or abbreviated “Enso”. It refers to a coupled circulation system of ocean and atmosphere in the tropical Pacific. During the El Niño warm phase, the current brings ocean heat to higher latitudes, some of which is released into the atmosphere via evaporation. Because fishermen in Peru noticed the warming at the end of the year, they called the phenomenon El Niño, which translates to the Christ Child.

La Niña is considered a cold phase, in which the current carries the warming via solar radiation into deep waters of the western Pacific, where it is stored. Between the two extremes, this is referred to as a neutral phase.

With a few exceptions, such as the unusually cold winter of 1941/42, Europe has so far been spared the long-distance effects of El Niño. However, an impact on the cold and snowy winter of 2009/10 in Europe and North America has been discussed. In addition, the El Niño phenomenon has an impact on the Indian monsoon – in El Niño years, precipitation is greatly increased, whereas in La Niña years, monsoon brings less precipitation.
